Introduction

This guide shows you how to turn Network Discovery on so that you can browse a network and people browsing a network can access shared files, folders, printers, or drives on your computer.

Note: Network Discovery is automatically enabled when the location type is set to Home or Office (Private) for a network connection. If your network location type is set to Public Network Discovery is turned off by default. Network Discovery can be turned on when your network location is set to Public but it’s not recommended.

Enable Network Discovery

1. Open the Start Menu and type network in the search box and then click Network and Sharing Center.
2. Click the down arrow all the way to the right of Network Discovery.
3. Check off Turn on network discovery and then click Apply.
