Set the Default Operating System in Windows Vista’s Boot Manager

Introduction
This guide shows you how to change the default version of Windows to boot up in a dual boot environment in Windows Vista’s boot manager.
Set the Default OS in Boot Manager
- Click the Start button.
- Right-click Computer in the Start Menu.
- Select Properties.
- Click Advanced system settings in the left column of the System window.
- Click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery in the Advanced tab.
- Choose which version of Windows to be the default under Default operating system.

- If you’d like to reduce the boot up time you can reduce the time to display list of operating systems to 5 or 10 seconds instead of 30.
- Click OK to save the changes and restart your computer.
When you start your computer it’ll boot up to the default operating system you set. You can always choose a different version of Windows to boot from using the down arrow when you see the boot manager during the boot up process.
