Introduction
If you properly use tags, ratings, and captions when organizing your pictures in Windows Photo Gallery searching for them is a snap.
This guide shows you how to use the search box and the Navigation pane to search for pictures.
Search Box
You can perform a simple search of tags or captions given to a picture by typing your search in the search box in Windows Photo Gallery.
You can narrow your search by pictures or video, tag, date taken, rating, and its location by clicking what you want to narrow your search by in the Navigation pane (left column of Windows Photo Gallery) before you type your search.
Hint: You can narrow your search further by selecting multiple items in the Navigation pane at one time. You do this by holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and selecting each item to narrow your search down by. An example is finding all 5 star pictures will the tag sunset and then search for Florida to find all great pictures of sunsets in Florida.
Navigation Pane
You can also narrow down a group of pictures by clicking items in the Navigation pane.
Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and select multiple items to narrow down your search further.
