This guide shows you how to roll a driver back to a previous version in Windows Vista.
Let’s say you updated your video card’s driver through Windows Update and now it’s giving you problems. Windows Vista makes it easy to roll the driver back to it’s previous version. This guide shows you how it’s done.
Roll Back a Driver
- Click Control Panel in the Start menu.
- Switch to Classic View by clicking Classic View in the left sidebar of the Control Panel.
- Open System.
- Click Device Manager in the left sidebar of the System window.
- Right-click the device you want to roll the driver back and then select Properties.
- Click the Driver tab in the device properties window.
- Click the Roll Back Driver button.
Note: If there’s no previous driver to roll back to the Roll Back Driver button will be grayed out like the screen shot above.
- Click Yes in the warning box to uninstall the driver.
The driver is rolled back. You should restart your computer to begin using the older driver.
