Introduction
This guide shows you how to revert back to a previous restore point in Windows Vista. This is very useful if software or drivers you’ve just installed cause problems with your computer. Windows Vista always creates a restore point before it installs software, updates, or drivers.
Note: System Restore doesn’t backup your personal files. It only backs up system files.
Revert to a System Restore Point
- Insert your Windows Vista DVD and restart your computer.
- Press any key to boot to the DVD when asked.
- Select your language and then click Next.
- Click Repair your computer.
- Select the operating system you want to revert to a previous restore point and the click Next.
- Click System Restore.
- Click Next.
- Select which restore point you want to go back to and then click Next.
- Click Next in the confirm disks to restore window.
- Click Finish to confirm your restore point.
- Click Yes in the warning window and the restore will begin.
Restoring a system restore point can take a while. Make sure you don’t turn your computer off during the restore.
- When it’s finished a window will appear telling you the restore was successful. Click Restart to finish the restore.
