Remote To Another Computer Using VNC

Posted By Brent Trahan On 1.27.06 @ 7:00 am In All | No Comments

Once you have installed VNC on your computer and the computer(s) you are going to remote to, you are ready to go.

Click start, point to All Programs, point to RealVNC, point to VNC Viewer 4, and click on Run VNC viewer.

Type the IP address or computer name of the computer you want to remote to and click OK.

If you set the remote computer to ask for a password you will have to type in the password you gave when you installed VNC on the remote computer and click OK.

You should now be on the remote computer.

Trouble Shooting Tips

  • By default VNC uses port 5900. Make sure this port is not blocked in any firewall.
  • If the computer you are connecting to is behind a router you need to forward port 5900 to the IP address of the computer you want to remote to.
