Some people need a fast way to turn off the Aero glass affect because a game might perform better with it off, they want to take a screen shot, or other various reasons.

This guide shows you how to create a shortcut that turns Aero on or off when clicked in Windows Vista.

Create Shortcut to Turn Aero Glass Off

  1. Right-click an empty space of your desktop, point at New, and then click Shortcut.
  2. Type rundll32.exe dwmApi #104 in the location box of the Create Shortcut window.

  3. Click Next.
  4. Give your new shortcut a name.

  5. Click Finished.

Create Shortcut to Turn Aero Glass On

Follow the steps above but type rundll32.exe dwmApi #102 in the location box of the Create Shortcut window.

    How do I keep the “size” I select in IE from changing as I go from one site to another? I need “largest,” but it keeps changing to “medium.” I think I saw this once in your wonderful guides, but I can find it now.
