Manually Add a Folder Monitored By Windows Media Player

Posted By Brent Trahan On April 30, 2007 @ 1:06 pm In All, Vista, Windows, Windows Media Player | No Comments

Introduction

By default Windows Media player automatically monitors the Music, Pictures, and Video folders of the user account you’re currently logged into and the public user account for new media in your library.

This guide shows you how to manually add a new location for Windows Media Player to monitor for new media.

Add a Monitored Folder

  1. Open Windows Media Player.
  2. Right-click to the left of Now Playing, point at Tools, and then click Options.
  3. Select the Library tab, and then click Monitor folders.
  4. Click Add.

  5. Browse to the location of the folder you want Windows Media Player to monitor and click OK.

Note: Windows Media Player can monitor shared folders you have access to across a network. This is great for sharing a large library on a file server to computers on a network.
