One of the new features of Internet Explorer 7 is the search box located at the top right of the Internet Explorer 7 window. You can search the internet using most search engines from that search box instead of going to the search engines site and using their search box. This guide shows you how to use and configure the search box in Internet Explorer 7.
Find On This Page
If you want to find something on a page you are currently on you can use the find on this page search box feature. Click on the down arrow to the right of the magnifying glass and click find on this page.

Type what you are trying to find on that page in the find box (shown above) and press next. When Internet Explorer finds what you are looking for it highlights it for you. You can press next again and again to keep searching further down the webpage if you need.
Check off match whole word only to tell Internet Explorer to only show you matches that are exactly what you typed. An example of this would be if you searched for child without checking off match whole word only Internet Explorer might come back with matches like child or children. If you check off match whole word only children would not show up.
Check off match case to only find words that are exactly like you type them in regards to upper and lower case letters. An example would be if I searched for Brent with a capital B Internet Explorer would only show results for Brent with a capital B. This is a very useful feature for programmers and webmasters searching for commands and things like that.
Search the Web
When you want to search the internet for something simply type it in the search box and press enter on your keyboard or click the magnifying glass to the right of the search box.

If you want that search engine to become your default search engine check off make this my default search provider. Click add provider.
You can always change which search engine is the default by clicking the down arrow to the right of the magnifying glass and selecting change search defaults.
Select the search engine you want to be the default and click set default.
You can also remove any search engine from the list by selecting it and clicking remove.
