Introduction

Let’s say you go out to a retail store and buy a retail copy of Windows Vista and install it on your computer only to find out it doesn’t work as well as your thought it would.

If you try to bring it back to the retail store you purchased Windows Vista at they probably won’t take it back if you opened the package. Microsoft will take that copy of Windows Vista back if you meet a few guidelines.

Guidelines

• You must return it within 45 days
• You must provide a copy of the sales receipt, credit card statement, or canceled check showing proof of purchase
• Provide your complete contact details, including your address (no P.O. boxes), telephone number, and e-mail address if applicable
• You must uninstall the software and destroy any backups you made. If you leave Windows Vista installed they will shut it down the nasty way.
• Include all related media and manuals when sending it back
• Provide the name and location of the retailer your purchased it at
• Include an explanation of why you want to return the product
• The product must be sent to Microsoft via FedEx, UPS, DHL, Airborne Express, or certified and insured US Mail. Microsoft will refund you $7 for the shipping.
