Hide a Windows Vista Computer from Other Computers on a Network

Hide Vista on a Network

  1. Let’s open the command prompt with administrative privileges (elevated command prompt) by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, right-click Command Prompt and then select Run as administrator.
  2. Type Net config server /hidden:yes in the command prompt and then press Enter on your keyboard.

  3. If the command was successful it will tell you “The command completed successfully.

You can check to see if your computer is hidden at any time by typing Net Config Server in an elevated command prompt.

Look for the line that says Server hidden.

Unhide Vista on a Network

Simply follow the steps above and type Net config server /hidden:no in the command prompt.
