Posted on: 08.16.07 by Brent Trahan

Create an extra layer of protection on a Windows Vista computer by enabling Secure Logon.

Introduction

Secure Logon is when you have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del on your keyboard to unlock your computer before you can logon to Windows. This is a common feature of business computers on a domain network. Secure Logon guarantees an authentic login prompt.

This guide shows you how to enable Secure Logon on a non-domain Windows Vista computer.

Enable Secure Logon

  1. Type netplwiz in the Start Menu’s Search box.
  2. Click netplwiz in the search results.
  3. Click the Advanced tab in the User Accounts window.
  4. Check off Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Del under Secure Logon.
