Change the Registered User and Company Name
Posted By Brent Trahan On May 3, 2007 @ 2:07 pm In All, Misc, Vista, Windows | 1 Comment
This guide shows you how to change the registered user and company name of a Windows Vista PC.
The registered user and company name shows up if you right-click Computer in the Start menu and select Properties. These names also show up as the default names in some software installations.
Many people like to change the names if they are giving or selling a PC to another person or if the computer came from a manufacturer with default names already applied.
Warning: To change these names you need to edit the registry. Editing the registry can cause your computer to crash if done wrong. Use this guide at your own risk.
Note: Your user account must have Administrative privileges to edit the registry.
