Backup the Registry in Windows Vista

Posted By Brent Trahan On 11.28.07 @ 12:02 pm In All, Backup and Restore, Vista, Windows | 1 Comment

The registry is the place where all settings for Windows Vista and most programs are kept. Most of these settings are set by Windows or in the programs themselves, but some settings can only be changed by directly editing the registry itself.

Editing the registry directly can cause irreversible damage to your computer sometimes making it unusable.

This guide shows you how to backup your registry in Windows Vista just encase something bad happens.

Backup Windows Vista’s Registry

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Right-click Computer and then select Properties.
  3. Click Advanced system settings on the left of the System window.
  4. Select the System Protection tab in the System Properties window.
  5. Click Create.
